From the Billion Oyster Project:
Billion Oyster Project hosts an annual Scy-posium as an opportunity for community scientists, artists, and advocates to showcase their research, learning, and other projects related to local waterways of New York Harbor.
The Scy-posium Poster Session and Networking Happy Hour is an in-person event, hosted on Governors Island, where community scientists can present their work and network over light refreshments.
Projects may include, but are not limited to: art, design & engineering, scientific research, advocacy, environmental justice, and more. Scy-posium presenters include community participants, community-based organizations, and university students.
Join us as we celebrate the amazing work being produced by members of the New York Harbor community! This event is open to all.

Want to learn more about how we’re restoring a billion oysters in the New York Harbor! Come joins us for an immersive walking tour of our operations on Governors Island. In this engaging 1-hour and 15-minute walking tour, You will learn all about oyster restoration, oyster history in NYC, oysters environmental benefits, and much more.
What to expect:
Dive deep into the intricacies of oyster restoration at the Billion Oyster Project. Explore local oysters up close with our touch tank, providing a firsthand look. Receive an informational walkthrough of our exhibit house and Shell pile.
Things to Keep in Mind:
The walking tour route includes uneven terrain and may not be suitable for wheelchairs or individuals with mobility limitations. The total distance covered is just under 2 miles. Participants with strollers or baby carriers should note that terrain and stairs may vary. These tours will be available throughout the field season ( May - November). Sign-ups for tours will open at the beginning of each month.
